I saw the very first episode of the very first season and was hooked.
Sean Bean, blue-eyed people, horses, swords, chopping heads. I loved the pilot
and every episode after that.
Then season 8 happened.
The worst sex scene, the worst plot twist and the worst battle - all happened in season 8.
The title sequence was a classic and
taught me about world-building. It was clear and left no doubt about the world
it was. The characters, the deaths, the battles, the intrigue and, of course,
the sex. A1. And kept going to a higher level. And then they brought in the dragons - done
right for once.
#GOT showed weakness when it brought
back Jon from the dead. Well, if they had to send him back behind the wall then
why bother. Then we have Sansa. Who the hell was she and why was she so important. That
defies logic. Arya, the half boy half girl, had a great character arc - all
squandered away in season 8.
By the time season 8 came along all the
players made a name for themselves and got sort-of fed up with GOT. Only we,
the poor viewing public, wanted it. Not HBO and definitely not the two show
runners. Curse them.
What irritates me - so many months
after the finale - are the idiot actors trying to justify the finale. In fact,
they contributed to the writing screw-up with coffee cups and water bottles. Not
one of the players will have a career after GOT. I name them here. Emilia
Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, and
the two showrunners - mark my words.
The entire season 8 was written in 10 minutes, most likely when the show-runners were on the potty.
Everything was tedious in season 8. The entire battle was shot in dark. The DOP
of the series has the gall to state that we peeps don't know how to tune
our tv set. Bugger. Is he still working? Then
we have the cheap way the night-king was killed. The Dany act, then her death
and then the freaking round-table where they select an impotent man as king and then Arya riding off alone to god-knows-where. But not as worse as her bedroom
scene.
But my main grudge is against the two
showrunners. I will never forgive them for doing this to me.
